Pair of Zulu Combs - South Africa

A fine pair of Zulu combs decorated with crosshatched incisions. Ash would be rubbed into the incisions in order to create these darkened designs. When not use, these combs were often worn in the hair.

Due to the fragile nature and age of these objects, it is rare to find them in such pristine condition.

NOTE: Comb on the right is sold.
