Konda Knife - Congo

The blades of Konda knives are unusual for Africa because they are made of rather thin sheet metal and because their flamboyant designs would clearly render them ineffective as weapons. Usually their handles are plain and stubby, but in this case the long shaft is carved spirally, decorated with kaolin, and fitted with an ivory tip. They are used in cult rituals and on parade.
